Title: Help Please- IPF 8400 fails print adjustment after printhead replacement.
Post by: gchappel on May 23, 2023, 11:02:13 am
I was getting some subtle banding on prints.  Ran a nozzle check- Lt head gave a bunch of dropouts.   The head was 5yrs old and I had a replacement on hand- so just replaced the head.
Easy peasy.
As the printer went through reloading the printhead and adjusting- I get the error message:
Cannot adjust printhead
Press OK to clear the error and readjust printhead.

I tried pushing ok and rerunning the alignment- same error.
I am using red river satin for this job- do I need to use a different paper for the adjustment?
Any thoughts/help would be invaluable- I am over my head at this point
Thanks again

Ok, more info.
When I ran the original nozzle check- the PC printout had multiple dropouts.
Plenty of ink in all cartridges.
The printhead was 5yrs old- so I replaced it.
Now, with the new head,  the PC channel is completely gone.   All the other channels are clean.
Plenty of ink in PC.
What are my next steps?
Buy another PC cartridge in the hopes the OEM cart is faulty?
Run a nozzle clean?
Not sure what my next steps should be- way over my head here.
Any help would be really appreciated.
thanks again!!

Saga continues.
PC channel comes and goes.   It will clear out with a nozzle clean, but then disappears again.
I doubt if is another bad head- unlikely to have issues with the same channel on 2 heads.
I was going to order another ink cartridge and reflush everything.
Any other ideas?
I need some direction here.
thanks again

Gary I would create a large rectangle in photoshop and fill it with light cyan and print a couple of those
And see if that flushes out the line.

Good idea with the pm square.
I use a program called qimage, and have been printing a similar program.
I ordered an additional pm cartridge and will print away.   I am not giving up yet.
