Title: Looking for a landscape photography lens
Post by: Bozzdivine on May 19, 2023, 04:30:04 am
Hi, guys!
I'm planning an exciting road trip across the American Southwest this summer, and I'm looking to capture some stunning landscape photos. I'll be visiting national parks like the Grand Canyon and Zion, and I'll also be spending some time in beautiful coastal areas like Big Sur.
I'm currently using a Canon 600D, and I'm wondering: What would be the best lens for this type of landscape photography? I'm particularly interested in capturing wide, panoramic shots and the intricate details of rock formations and flora.
Additionally, if you have any specific tips for shooting in these kinds of environments (lighting conditions, best times of day to shoot, etc.), I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance for your help!

I suggest a 24-100mm and a 100-400mm. This combo has served me well on numerous trips. If you do not want such a long reach, then a 24-70 and 70-200 would be fine. Take a polarizer!

Light is always more interesting early and late. Unless it is overcast in which case it matters a lot less.

Have fun! It's a great area. ANd post some whotos OK?

About lenses, 10 years ago with an xxxD, I was quite content with a 10-22, a 55-250 and a 35/2 in between.

I suggest a 24-100mm and a 100-400mm.
24-100 might be a bit tight on a APSC sensor, but could be well complemented by a 10-22 (or a 10-18 IS, almost as sharp, cheaper, with IS, but a bit worse regarding flares and ghosting and 2/3stop darker).
