Title: After mac ventura upgrade colors are way off again.
Post by: dgberg on March 18, 2023, 11:19:08 am
On my Mac I upgraded to Ventura 13 about 6 months ago and had problems with the colors back then but it seemed to sort itself out.
Epson P8000 in Lightroom my colors are off on just about everything I am printing through Lightroom.
Pretty sure it is not a profile issue but an Apple/Adobe issue because when I print through Qimage the colors are accurate with the exact same profiles.

You have to be extra careful with the new OS that all settings are correct as not expect them to be sticky as they should be. This is especially the case in applications that use the SPI to automatically set ColorSync radio button if "Application Manages Color" is invoked which Adobe products do. It's kind of a bug in Ventura.
If everything is set properly and checked each time, no issues for me printing to a P800 or 3880 using Adobe products.

I saw your post about this on another thread and checked my color controls. I found that the "Epson Color Controls" is selected and grayed.
I switched printers to my P800 and the correct "Color Sync" is selected. Went back to the P8000 and the correct "color sync" is selected.
Thanks for the heads up, hope a fix is coming.

You hit the nail on the head. Sticks sometimes and the next time it is fine.

I am giving up on Mac OS Ventura for serious printing. It completely screwed up printing for Adobe Lightroom Classic to both my Epson P600 and HP DesignJet Z9+ printers with what looked like double ICC profiling applied in ColorSync, and also presets not working for printer resolution. Photoshop was unaffected by the color management issue, but still had the print preset problem. I downgraded my Mac Pro to Mac OS Monterrey, and that has the old print dialogs I am used to with print presets that work. Ventura's printing changes are ridiculously bad.

For work I use a MacBook Air which I also made the mistake of upgrading, so print presets on the Xerox color copier also don't work, so if I want double-sided printing, or stapling those has to be manually enabled every time. PITA!

I'm also having frustrations with Ventura and Lighroom printing. Yesterday I updated LR and MacOS hoping the problem would be gone, but it remains (now at Ventura 13.3.1, LR Classic 12.3). Printing with Epson P800, driver 12.62.

My main problem is that print settings don't stick. After selecting printer settings: media and page setup in LR, after closing dialog box, when I open it again, often different media is selected, or page setup goes from "borderless" to "roll paper."

I've tried deleting presets, not using presets, restarting Mac, and other troubleshooting steps, but issue remains.

If anyone has any suggested fixes, please let us know.

No fix until Apple gets to it. Just check settings every time.

I still use a Canon iPF8300. When I upgraded to a Mac Studio I also bought a used i5 intel Mac Mini and installed High Sierra on it, along with Photoshop (v22 I think) and the Canon printer drivers. I use Screen Share to control it; it’s not connected to a monitor or keyboard, just my network. When it’s time to print, I copy the files to the Mac Mini and use the Canon print export plugin to print. It works very well for my needs.
