Title: Any Luminar NEO Users
Post by: WilliamRoy on December 11, 2022, 10:28:06 am
 My first post.

Just getting back into phtography after a 2 year lay off.  I am a bit put off about PS being subscription only and thinking of trying Luminar Neo.  I've read a few reviews from YTubers and it seems like it will fit my needs at about half price of PS with the option to buy for a reasonable price. When I searched the forum before posting I found nothing current on Luminar.

Any thoughts

Neo Pro $9.92 a month vs Photoshop and Lightroom package only $9.95 a month.
Pretty easy decision, at least for me.

Serif's Affinity Photo has just been updated and I think is on sale. It's less than PS elements and a perpetual license. I know a few people that rave about it and I'm thinking of taking advantage of the sale myself since they also have InDesign- and Illustrator-like programs as part of the sale.

I think OnOne also has there own photo editing software.

In any case, competition is good, though the past couple of years have been a lot of hype pushed by some of the other photo editing applications with little more than a few tweaks added and calling it a new version.

IMO, $10/month for Photoshop seems a bargain as it seems to be improving with each iteration and each new update. I wish Adobe offered the same rate for many of their other software apps.

Some might say that Affinity are guilty of this with version 2 of their suite.

I’ve used Luminar products for the past few years along with ON1 products. I’ve finally decided that ON1 is my preferred product, I like their sales model better than the Luminar product and think the RAW editor itself does a better job with both my Fuji and Sony images. The sky ai feature has now caught up with Luminar and has more adjustment options as well. Also they have very good videos and articles to help learn the product.  Hope that helps.
