UP has several of the big iron horses that they send around the US from time to time. They are based out of their home in Nebraska i think. Seen one of them in Houston, Tx several times over the last decade.

There is, or at least used to be, a group in Roanoke, Virginia that maintained a huge old steam locomotive and used it for excursions.

V&T Railroad, Carson City & Virginia City, Nevada. Nevada State Railroad Museum, Carson City. Nevada Northern, Ely, Nevada. Niles Canyon Railroad, Sunol, Calif. Yosemite & Sugar Pine Railroad, Fishcamp, Calif. Promontory Point NHS, Utah. Roaring Camp, Felton, Calif., Railtown 1897, Jamestown, Calif. Durago & Silterton RR, Durango, Colorado. Cumbres & Toltec, Chama, New Mexico, Rio Grande Scenic Railroad, Alamosa, Colorado. Heber Valley Railroad, Utah. There's more out here in the west and I know there's a few in the upper midwest-Indiana, Michigan, Illinois. Seems to me there's several in the Carolinas and Texas, too.

You'll find them all over the USA!
