Title: ACR Monochrome profile not neutral?
Post by: FrankG on October 30, 2022, 10:24:51 pm
Opening raw files I usually apply the Adobe Color profile. The default imported profile is Camera Settings (Camera Raw Defaults>Adobe Default) . Now I just switched to Adobe Default .

Viewing the file I often want to covert to B&W so I select the Adobe Monochrome profile from the profile dropdown.
But the RGB values are not equal, so it’s not exactly neutral. Why?

I have not applied any global masks on the image. Perhaps a local one to for example lighten a face. I checked the Grading tab & it’s highlights, mid tones, shadows to ensure there’s no + saturation. BW Mixer has all Color’s at 0. No curves…

What could it be?

Thanks

I can't duplicate. Using the Adobe Monochrome profile on several images in both ACR and LR, I always see R=G=B in the readouts. This, with all kinds of adjustments applied.

Where are you reading unequal RGB values. What software, what tool window?

Hovering the cursor anywhere over the image gives me RGB numbers above the histogram
