I took a drive down to the San Luis valley on Wednesday evening to get some moonrise shots over the Sangre de Cristo range.
I shot with my new (to me) GFX 50r which I'm still getting acquainted with. So far so good.
Both shots with the Pentax 645 A* 300/4 and Kipon adapter. Focusing that lens was a challenge.

I don't know what a GFX 50r is, but I sure like these photographs; very especially the bottom one. For some reason it reminds me of some of "Savannah" shots I've seen.

Thanks! It's a mirrorless digital medium format(ish) camera that recently got replaced in Fujifilm's lineup making it more affordable for someone like me. The current model at this level uses the same sensor so it seemed like the one to get. The old 645D is going up on eBay.

There is a softness to these images that I find appealing. of the two, my pick is #1.

Nice touch, Matt. I too like the first for its softness. It exudes a sense of serenity.

More nice work with the new black box, Matt! It looks like it's got potential for taking good pictures ;-)
No, really. Nice moonrise pix, especially with the row of trees adding another layer.

I'm very fond of them both. Looks like it all came together just right for you.

Very fine shots, both!

I wonder if that was diffraction from my accidental stopping down. Anyway, glad you like them!

Thanks! I was concerned the clouds were going to block it or I wopuldn't find a good composition in time. Thankfully it did all come together. I love it when that happens.

By "softness" I didn't mean the sharpness of the image. I was referring to its emotional impact.

Looks like a fair amount of haze (blue light scatter) rather than lens diffraction to me.

Whatever it is, I wouldn't try to "fix" it. It works great just the way it is.

Thanks guys. I'll leave it as-is! :)
