Title: Mating Phantom Craneflies
Post by: Mark Nadler on May 22, 2022, 02:57:44 pm
A couple of weeks ago I was hiking in a marsh looking for warblers when these two phantom craneflies came floating by me.  At first I thought it was a feather until it landed on a plant.  This is the first time I had ever seen a phantom cranefly.  Previously I had read about them but never encountered one in the wild.  Supposedly they are common once you begin looking for them.  Well, I am two weeks removed from seeing these two and still have not seen another one.
