Title: canon GP 4000 vs IPF 4100
Post by: ZakemArt on April 12, 2022, 01:24:38 pm
I have been using a canon IPF 8400 for many years and like it.  The cutter no longer works so need an additional printer for paper print runs.  I was going to purchase a 4100, but then started researching the GP 4000.  Has anyone had experience with this printer on canvas?  A lot of my images have very vibrant colors so the neons intrigued my interest.  I also do art reproduction printing for some clients though, so also need accurate color reproduction.  Can the GP 4000 do both or is best to stick with the 4100 or run 2 printers?

Thanks

I'm curious about it as well, but I'd be VERY wary of the permanence of any fluorescent pigments...  In general they tend to fade extremely quickly, unless Canon has figured out something really special.  Also, don't expect the robustness and ease of use of the 8xxx series, these new machines can be a lot more fiddly.  I ran a 4000 and a 6000 for years, and they constantly needed feed adjustments to get rid of banding caused by the paper not advancing at reliable intervals.

Thanks, I didn't think about the longevity of the fluorescents.  That is definitely something to keep in mind.
