Just for your interest - I bought an Apple Cinema Display 23" yesterday and profiled it with a Spyder with OptiCAL. Here are the results of the profiling (compared with the notebook's 13.3" screen).

The central solid wireframe is the MacBook, and the larger lighter wireframe is the Apple 23" Cinema Display.
Good hard evidence for not using the notebook alone for colour & contrast correction.

Yep-
I use it on location as a sort of "digital polaroid" for the clients and myself, and make sure that I explain that all should hold off on making any critical evaluations until I get back to the studio with my Eizo. Hence, I learn to rely on the "numbers" to determine highlight and shadow values.
