Title: web host recommendation
Post by: pcgpcg on December 09, 2021, 10:18:48 am
I’ve decided to stop printing photos for sale after the end of this year. There are several reasons for this, but the bottom line is that I want to move from my current Photoshelter setup (which I’ve been very happy with) to another scenario where viewers can purchase a quality print if they desire, but I want to be completely out of the loop. Making money is not a priority for me. I just want a nice appearing website that allows me to easily upload photos and that makes prints available for sale from someone else. FWIW I've been very happy with my current arrangement with Photoshelter, but I want out of the printing business. I know I can still stay with Photoshelter without doing my own printing, but I figure this is a good opportunity to look at other options as well.

Can anyone offer an alternative to Photoshelter that delivers a hands-off (other than uploading my photos) business model for me?

Thank you!

Why would you change your web host when Photoshelter can do the fulfillment via a few partners?  It beats having to redo your site on someone else's platform.

Because after searching through the huge list of vendors on Photoshelter's website, it appears that all of them print only and don't to any marketing or direct sales to the public. https://www.photoshelter.com/vendor-search
Am I wrong? I hope so, but I haven't find any yet that do this.

I want to be completely out of the loop. I want someone to automatically receive an order from my website and take it from there. If that means building a new website then I'm prepared to do that.

All communication with client, shipping, customer support, etc... I want to be handled by someone else. Making money is not my priority. I just want to find a good vendor that has an established presence and has a long track record of good customer service and that can make and ship quality prints at a reasonable price so folks can enjoy them. If they make most of the money that's fine with me.

If there are Photoshelter print vendors that do that then that would be wonderful as I could keep my current website.

Any recommendations?

Thank you!

I have a similar need as yours. I hope to learn something here.

PhotoShelter has most of it - the auto-fulfillment.  The issue is what happens when there is a problem.  Chat it out with PhotoShelter - they may be able to point you in a direction.
