Title: A good day
Post by: MattBurt on August 27, 2021, 11:09:00 am
I've felt like I've been in a photo slump lately. With all the smoke and wind this summer it's been hard to get the shots I want and hard to motivate to even try sometimes. But yesterday we had both a nice sunrise and a beautifully stormy evening and no significant smoke. It was glorious and really motivated me to get out and shoot.
This is all within about 2 miles from home which is pretty convenient.

The third one without those dramatic clouds. (Are those mammatus clouds?)

Excellent set.
I hope you get more smokeless days.

I believe they are. They were part of a giant supercell that passed through.

Love the lightning and the clouds; sunset is nice, too.

The third is spectacular with those ominous clouds but I also like  #2 a lot.

I appreciate the comments. I'm also torn between the lightning and the big cloud if I had to pick one.
Lightning is always exciting to shoot and that is where most of the effort went once I saw the possibility for that shot.
But the cloud was so ominous and impressive. And it was the first "real" shots with my new Irix Firefly 15mm which seems like a good purchase so far. I got it more for astro but it does well in this environment too.

All well done, Matt. The second and third are neck and neck in the drama race, but for the overall look, I have to give the nod to the third.
