Title: Sensor clean for Canon Mark 5?
Post by: kevs on August 09, 2021, 02:42:45 pm
I still have the Mark 2.  I noticed in menu sensor clean.. I have not doen in ages.  Don't see specs on image backgrounds.

What is the recommendation?  Do every blue moon or put on auto? thanks.

If you images do not show dust or oil specs then don't do anything.... Leave it on auto!

I have owned two 5DIV's for nearly three years and haven't had to manually clean the sensors. I haven't shot in challenging conditions and the auto clean feature has kept them clean.

I've always left it set to auto on my 5Dii & 5Div and only once in the last ten years have I had a dust spec that needed a quick blow with hurricane blower.

Thanks guys, well it was not even on auto!  Was noton anything. Camera comes default to auto, I assume?

Ok set back to auto.. no downside to that?  maybe more battery...

It just cleans the sensor when powered up and down. The batter hit is insignificant. No downside I've ever heard of.
