Title: New Moon in the Bristlecone Pines
Post by: johnhennessy on August 07, 2021, 09:09:27 pm
Been to the Ancient Bristlecone Pines several times, but just now noticed on the BLM site that it is only "open" till 8 pm. That is way too early for the milkyway and besides I and others have been there way later than that. There are no gates or fences anyhow. So my question is:  has anyone ever been hassled being there later than 8 pm? BLM is usually pretty mellow about things, but no one wants any souvenir hunters among the ancient trees.

To answer my question:  the ostensible 8 pm curfew is ignored. Because of the new moon I suppose there were over a dozen photographers around that night; some arrived after 8 pm and some stayed all night in the parking lot. The visiter's center was not open that part of the week, but would have been closed by sunset regardless. So it seems to be a non-issue.
