These are beautiful, and yes, these are definitely serious art. Much of the best "Street" photography is full of Whimsy.

Two more.
Interesting thing about abstracts and whimiscal photos is that the viewer can interpret them anyway they want, unless the intent is very obvous. I see the tar image as a kind of Mexican stand-off. One lone shining-knight leaf against all those errant bad boys.
