Title: Recurring channel issue with Canon 4000
Post by: Ryan Mack on June 11, 2021, 11:32:50 am
I've got a 4 year old Canon 4000, head about 2 years old (got that error code after first 2 years). Pretty much problem free until recently after a few days of sitting idle I pretty much always get a few nozzles on the grey channel either dropping out entirely or looking too thin or offset a bit. A clean always fixes it but I never had to run a clean manually before and now I pretty much have to every time. I swapped out the ink tank (was still on the original tank that came with the printer) and ran a system clean with the channel but it didn't fix it. I don't mind running a clean once a week but I'm curious if anybody has any other suggestions than replacing the print head (I kind of expect it to fail soon given the frequently reported 2 year lifespan). I replaced the maintenance cartridge which was nearing full. Is there any other user serviceable things I should try?

Two years is about it. I've even had replace head codes when the nozzle checks were perfect (I suspect there's some kind of built-in timer).
