Title: Epson Legacy Baryta II? Did they change something?
Post by: disneytoy on May 20, 2021, 04:09:17 pm
Greetings!

I have used a lot of Epson Legacy Baryta before. I still have a large supply. I now see Epson refers to the paper as Baryta II? Did they change something?

Thanks

Max

All old formula baryta papers are discontinued. including Canson, Ilford, Hahnemuhle..

I believe that Epson Legay Baryta II is the same paper with CI's Baryta Photographique II. And it's not the same with old one.

Yes. And the difference is not trivial.

JR, can you enlighten me on the changes you mention as non trivial?

I still have a few rolls of the original 44" and 24" Legacy Baryta

Thanks

The canson/ilford paper change was well discussed here. But I wasn't aware that Hahnemuhle baryta's have been changed. Are the new H papers significantly different? When did the change over occur (I have some recent sample packs -- how can I tell if they are the new or old versions)?

I was talking about Hahnemuhle Photo Silk Baryta, it's similar with Ilford Gold Fibre Silk and Canson Infinity Baryta Photographique. And it's discontinued, the product page has been removed.

Hahnemuhle Photo Gloss Baryta is another type baryta paper, not been effected (as I know).

Thanks for the clarification. I was looking at the other baryta papers so that's good to know.

Moab Juniper Baryta Rag may not have changed.    Apparently that paper is made in the US; the discontinued/changed baryta papers were all of European origin.
