Title: Transfer from Photoshop to LR problem
Post by: mdijb on May 05, 2021, 02:55:10 pm
I have an image in LR->made a virtual copy->make a bunch of changes in Develop module->Send a copy with these changes to photoshop.  What appears in Photoshop is not what I sent to it.  I cannot really tell what stage the image was when sent.  FOr some reason all my Lr preferences got blitzed so I reset all of them properly--sending to photshop as well ass my plugins.  I checked and had to resent all the color magmt setting in Photoshop and I think they are Ok again.

I sent some other images to Pshop with no problem.  I even made another virtual copy  and copied the same changes into it and resent to photoshop-> same result.

HELP

Raw or rendered image?
Send a copy how (Edit in Photoshop command)? Show us the preferences for how that's setup.
Lightroom Classic prefs blitzed means what? Have you reset them?

What OS? What version of Photoshop and LR?

MAC   OS 10.14.6   LR classic 10.2  Photoshop 22.3.1

Problem appears to occur with this file only.  the original file is an HEIC from my Iphone

Try this and let us know what you see (Edits or not):
Use Photoshop's Open command, set file format for "Camera Raw" which should have that open in ACR instead of Photoshop proper.
Use Lightroom Classics Export command and save the exported doc in whatever format you wish, open in Photoshop.
Do you see the edits now in either?

I export the Virtual COpy I processed to the desktop as a TIF 16 bit->Open in Photoshop in ACR and yes, the processed image loads and looks OK.  However the image is now 8 Bit instead of 16 bit.  the colors are OK

When I tell LR to open the image in Photoshop, the changes are not there, but the image remains in 16 bit.

WTF

What's the deal with the VC? Perhaps you were using 'open in Photoshop' on the original that didn't have the VC edits?

That you see the edits is a good sign. It means indeed, the parametric edits are 'seen' and used to render the document you describe. The bit depth is based upon the export settings. That's not that important at this point....
Open in Photoshop has it's own set of pref's for the bit depth. You see 16-bit etc, as shown in your screen capture earlier so that's fine.

I have double checked that I am sending a "COPY WITH LR EDITS" to photoshop.

I also  am sure I am exporting 16 bit file that is getting changed to an 8 bit file.

Now I observe the reverse problem.  I process a virtual copy of a raw image in LR-> export to the desktop as a tiff-> open in Pshop and the adjustments I made are seen-> more work in Pshop-> flatten the image-> import into LR.  The image in LR does not look like I see in PSHOP--dull and lifeless.

SOmething is not right.   Adobe must be swamped because I cannot get thru to a rep for help

Honestly I have no idea what you’re doing.
Anyway if you want to resolve this, here’s where you need to do:
To provide feedback and suggestions about what you desire from Adobe, or file what you believe is a bug, you should go here and comment after selecting the appropriate product:

Fianally got thru to Adobe.  I showed them the problem and the tech had to refer me to the upper levels technician to solve this--still waiting for an email and call back.

If you get a Adobe higher level tech would you mind asking them why PS can't resize screen when you open PS on a different screen size?
