There is a wonderful photo and written essay in the latest Granta magazine by Graham Smith. (Granta 95: Loved Ones)
It is a tribute to a father by his son; both were/are photographers. The photographs taken by Albert Smith were taken with a double format box camera, hand-developed and contact printed. The subjects are his family in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire in the 1940s & 50s. A small version of the cover photograph can be seen here. (http://www.granta.com/extracts/2815)
Highly recommended.
