I'm wondering who/what the definitive resource is on sharpening for high ISO + high noise images. I'm asking this in the context of astro landscape photography (example composite attached with noisy night sky). I've been trying to learn more about sharpening for general landscape images, but the amount of noise we see in high noise settings seems to necessitate greater measures. There are a number of people who are popular in their night landscapes, but from experience looking at one of their tutorials, it's not technically that precise in post-processing. Is there a name or a book I should be looking into?

I'm using Lightroom and Photoshop. I do capture sharpening in Lightroom.

What i remember about astro photography is that 1) we let the camera warm up and then took a “dark” frame ( lens cap on) followed by some number of frames of short duration (6-10 sec, maybe as long as 30 sec if no clock drive). Then for processing, the images were stacked with binning software that would align all the images and do the dark frame subtraction. Presto, if all went well, no colour noise and nice round stars !
I’ll dig around and see if i can find the weblinks that were helpful. Also, if you search around for an astronomy club, even if not local, you should get plenty of advice.
