Title: Photoshop-No color management option missing/printing ??
Post by: hacimd on March 05, 2021, 03:40:07 pm
Hello,

So this is news to me.  I'm familiar with Adobe Color Print Utility for printing targets when building paper profiles.  But the ACPU does not offer the option to allow Photoshop to manage Color, so that you can choose a paper profile.

So, I'm curious- Don't we need to select Color Mode: off, no color management and allow photoshop to manage color, so that we can reference a specific ICC profile?

If there is no longer a 'No Color management" option listed, how does this impact "Photoshop manages color", and choosing a paper profile?  Without choosing no color management, wouldn't the printer driver override the desired paper profile?  And if so, is anyone familiar with a work around?

Any info on this topic would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you

You cannot use modern versions of Photoshop to print targets without Color Management.
ACPU has nothing to do with Photoshop or printing such targets.

Sorry for the confusion and thank you for the reply.  Yes, I understand that you cannot use modern versions of PS to print targets without color management.

If we no longer have the option to choose 'no color management' when printing from Photoshop, how will this impact when allowing Photoshop to manage color and choose a paper profile?  Would the printer driver override the desired paper profile?

Possibly my workflow is out of date or I am misunderstanding something?  Thank you

It doesn't whatsoever. You pick a profile, you're printing with color management. The driver varies by printer so I can't make generalizations but you want to have the driver bypass using a profile since Photoshop is.
