Title: River Grass in Winter
Post by: Slobodan Blagojevic on January 24, 2021, 02:49:05 pm
I like them both, color and b&w.

P.S. Would I be overusing my Jackson Pollock metaphor if I said this reminds me of him too?

Good shooting, Slobodan. Beautiful stuff.

Nice shots/ I'd like to see more yellow saturation in the color shot and more contrast in the BW brightening up the whites. Doing that would push the background further back.  It's competing too much with the flowers.

I would be tempted to call those "pretty," especially the color one.
And I'd never use the word "pretty" to refer to anything by Pollock.

I like Pollock, and I like these. Is that a sufficient connection?   ;)

I prefer the colour one, it has more "life" in it.

Thanks for the comment, Alan.

The yellow (and orange and green) leaves have already been pumped up in contrast and saturation and the background darkened. It is winter. Any more, and it would look garish. Also, the point of the shot (and of my interpretation) is the interplay between the background and foreground, rather than suppressing the background at the expense of the foreground. I think, at the moment, I found the right balance. A week or two from now, I might change my mind ;)

As long as your happy, that's what counts. We all see differently.

Now that's my type of shot Slobodan.

Excellent.

Both are terrific, but the color version has a winsomeness that I find compelling. Well done, Slobodan.
