Title: Argyll Printer Profile Starting Point
Post by: jejes on December 24, 2020, 02:31:27 pm: Hello, i'm using Argyll and i want to start profiling all my papers and printers. I want to start with a good base profile and then create 2nd iteration of the profile.

My base profile would be
targen.exe" -v -d2 -G -e4 -B4 -g64 -f1728 -> i get Profile1.icm

And the second
targen.exe" -v -d2 -G -e8 -B8 -g319 -f957 -c Profile1.icm -> i get ProfileUpgraded.icm

Can someone tell me if i'm right or shoud i modify my base profile.

I am a beginner.
I first make a pre-conditionig profile on two A4 pages:

targen -v -d2 -G -f882 PRE.icm

and then on 4 A4 pages:

targen -v -d2 -G -n100 -f1764 -c PRE.icm output_profile

The printers are two Canons PRO1000 and PRO4000.

Even the PRE profiles are very good.

I don't mess with the -f switch at all.
Just -v -qh -S -cmt -dpp.

This is the exact same approach I follow except i use the '-N' command to highlight the neutral axis in the final patch set. I agree that the preconditioning profiles are very good.

Can you elaborate why the argyll profiles are better?
I am interessed to find improvements over i1profiler and 2945 patches.
