Title: Tools, Settings, Units, values.
Post by: spassig on October 25, 2020, 05:38:11 am
Hello

A question about the tools and their settings.
There are various controls in the tools, e.g.

Exposure > Exposure > slider from - 4 to + 4.
Are aperture values?

Sharpening > Radius > Controls from 0.2 to 2.5
Are pixels?

White balance > Kelvin > controller from 800 to 14.000
Are Kelvin values?

Which "units" do the others have, e.g.
Exposure > Contrast > Controls from - 50 to + 50

Or:

Clarity > Clarity > Knob from - 100 to + 100

Noise reduction > Brightness > Controls from 0 to + 100

Can anyone say anything?

Or is in www or here a good explanation?

Jochen

Exposure > Exposure > slider from - 4 to + 4.
Are aperture values?
They are exposure values (EV). So, +1 adding one EV to the image. Which would be like (only in terms of exposure) opening the aperture one stop or slowing down the shutter speed by one stop.

Sharpening > Radius > Controls from 0.2 to 2.5
Are pixels?
I believe so.

White balance > Kelvin > controller from 800 to 14.000
Are Kelvin values?
Correct

Which "units" do the others have, e.g.
Exposure > Contrast > Controls from - 50 to + 50

Or:

Clarity > Clarity > Knob from - 100 to + 100

Noise reduction > Brightness > Controls from 0 to + 100

I think these are just arbitrary from minimum effect to maximum effect but I don't really know for sure.

Thanks for feedback

You are right. EV is a better explanation.
