Title: Embedded profile disappears
Post by: headmj on October 05, 2020, 05:54:57 pm
I have a number of photos that I am reprocessing in the latest version of Lightroom.  Why?  The software improvements from version 2 and 3 to 5 and a lot more experience by me with the software.  I have owned some Pentax cameras (K-20, K-5, K3) that embedded a profile in the raw file.  Pentax uses DNG as one of its native formats.  When I am in develop I frequently want to see the effect one of the adobe provided profiles will have. If I select a profile such as Adobe Landscape I cannot return to the embedded file.  It disappears from the list of available profiles.  Any idea on what's going on?  I would like to recover the embedded profile.

Thanks

Mike

The standard profile, that is, the one from Pentext will need to be extracted from the original DNG somehow, then saved with the other Adobe profiles if you want to 'go back' to it I suspect.

Thanks Digitaldog.  I found the answer.  Like many things Lightroom it was hidden in the interface.  For the affected file click on the profile browser.  Then click on the plus sign in the upper left corner.  Click on manage profiles and check the Legacy box.  This provided access to the profile the camera had provided.  I could then select it from the profile menu.
