Title: Backups

This may well be a stupid question, but I don't want to delete what I should not!

I use LR Classic and back up the catalog and presets on exit to an external HD and then fairly frequently copy those backups to another external HD.  Do I need to keep only the most recent backup?  Can I delete all the other older ones?  My images with xmp files are backed up separately.

After I accumulate a few gigs of backup, I will remove old versions. I usually leave the three most recent; makes me feel better. Others more knowledgeable may have further advice.

You can delete older back ups. But the backup schema in LR is kind of lame; it only backs up the catalog and you really want to have a robust backup plan that backs up everything you can't afford to ever lose (images, presets, profiles, and any other data). If you have such a backup plan, you can turn off the backup in LR that only handles one document over and over again.

Thanks.  My backups for all that you write are in 2 places, so I will delete all bar the last few LR catalog backups, that are also 2 places, just in case!
