Gents, thank you very much. Jeremy, I have been so trying to get past the low key 'gloom' that seems to permeate my photos. Maybe I should just embrace it, as it does seem to come naturally. ;)

Given the times in which we live, one can either understand it or wish for the mood to be lightened by something. I'd go for the former: I like gloom.

I agree, embrace the gloom.
You might want to make one print a little lighter (and maybe of the Hosta as well) to hang on a wall where only you will see them every day. That should quickly persuade you to keep the gloom!
