What brings you here? The voice was faint. It was a voice I had heard in a different land far away. My voice had been fainter than his at that time. I had been descending for almost 8 hrs. I was lost. I was beaten. I was hungry and cold.
It was then that the voice had spoken to me. As it had done many times before.
It was there again. Both of us had grown older. Weaker.
What brings you here, traveler? The voice asked..gentle, weak.
To experience history, I replied. To hear the story. From the stones. And the people. I said.
But, said the voice, it has been told many times. The voice. With sorrow.
I want to hear it. Feel it. Experience it. I said.
I want to feel the story for myself, I said. From the stones.

This, then. is their story. As I saw, heard, and felt...

You're a poet, Rayyan. http://www.russ-lewis.com/Poetry/Poems/Ubon.html

No Russ. Far from it.
Just a traveler. Hearing stories. And telling them as best as I can.

I went down the hill. Sat next to him.
Language was not a barrier. We were both born of the same clay. And we would return to the same dust.
He told me a story. Of wars. Of sufferings. Of pain. Of sorrow.
And of, course of courage. And of sunshine.
We walked a little along the bridge.
We said our goodbyes.
He went his way.
I went to tell his story.

It was going to rain.
I was worried about getting wet.
A silly thing to worry about, my inner voice told me.

You are a superb storryteller.

Wonderful photos but sad.

I stand by what I said, Rayyan.

Nicely done, Rayyan!

Salute of thanks, my friends.
Stay well, stay safe.

Probably, OT, but isn't it interesting that we pay tribute to the dead, but we never try to define that which binds us. Though perhaps some would consider the series somewhat "journalistic" (I do not), it tells a story of that which should bind us together. Well done, fellow traveler. Keep on. Poet (visual), yes.

Thank you David for joining me during my travels.
Kindest regards.
