Title: "embedded ICC profile description is invalid"
Post by: rhynetc on August 05, 2020, 08:58:51 am
When sending an image from Lightroom CC to Photoshop for edits, I get the error (?) message "The embedded ICC profile cannot be used because the ICC profile description is invalid.  Ignoring the profile."

What is going on here?  How should I respond to correct this situation?

What is the color space and embedded ICC profile?

The color space is Prophotorgb and the file was sent with the Prophotorgb profile.  I have sent as dng, jpg, and most recently as a TIF, all with same warning message.  I tried assigning Prophotorgb profile in Photoshop but got the message that the profile is invalid.  Does that suggest a reinstall of Photoshop 2020?

Can you upload the document?
If you Duplicate it and Assign ProPhoto RGB or another profile, does it still pop that error?

Yes, I still get that warning.

I have reinstalled both Lightroom Classic and Photoshop 2020 but in neither case was the Prophoto RGB profile or the AdobeSRB profile installed in the normal location: C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color . I simply do not have those files on my system.

Where can I download them?

Photoshop will install the necessary ICC Profiles and furthermore there is no such profile named ” AdobeSRB”.

After many iterations of communication with Datacolor, uninstalling and reinstalling software for Spyder5Pro version 5.5, I gave up.  I removed the Datacolor software from my system and now there is no problem with sending a file to Photoshop and back.  Goodby Spyder!
