They might not win any beauty contests, but up close robber flies are a marvel of intricately assembled building blocks.

Masterfully photographed.  I agree - scary as hell.  One has to wonder what all those hairs are for.

Or not. Maybe best forgotten.

Again, superb job.  How you can get that magnification is amazing.
