As a longtime Mac & Lightroom user, I decided that there are a few things that I need to learn in Photoshop; for example, the Clone Stamp Tool. Although the use of the tool seems to be rather straightforward, I have an embarrassingly remedial question. First, I Option-click on the "source" to begin the clone. Releasing the the Option key, I move the "circle" onto my "target". When I attempt to paint over the target, the source pixels do not transfer. I am using an Apple trackpad & painting with a 3-finger movement. Undoubtedly, I am doing something wrong. Could someone kindly put me back on track? Thank you so much.

I suggest this: after you select the clone tool, check its tool bar to see if the blend mode, opacity, and flow are set to what you need. Also, choose the "sample layers" option that is right for you. Incidentally, I paint with just one finger on the trackpad; I don't know whether three-finger painting is a problem.

Jeffrey: Looks like I resolved my issue. On the Tool Bar, the Mode was inadvertently set to Overlay. Hence, the source pixels were simply overlaying the target pixels; not replacing them. By changing the Mode to Normal, all seems well.
Sometimes I have a tendency to overlook the obvious. :-)

Just a small correction: it's "options bar", not "tool bar," as I wrote in the OP.

Another thing to is clone on a separate layer using a sample of "Current and below"
opacity & flow important
Healing brush & spot healing good choice to pick up texture from sample and apply color using destination
also modes of lighter darker replace

Finally, I have found a solution to my problem, thanks for sharing it. I have recently started to learn Photoshop, so I always have some misunderstandings or questions. However, I have started by making stamps on this site https://mystampready.com (https://mystampready.com) which is very easy to use even for a beginner, especially as it has many features that simplify the process. I hope it is useful for someone.
