Title: Sorting through Word Press Themes for my new website template
Post by: dgberg on June 01, 2020, 12:43:11 pm
Anyone have any suggestions for some already finished websites to look at? Web gal is setting up POD pages for my own print studio.
She sent me the Word Press site that has a hundred or more templates to choose from but I need to see a site that pretty much mirrors what I do. No intent to copy we just need a place to start.

Have a look here  https://themeforest.net/

This is the number one best selling WP theme.  https://themeforest.net/item/avada-responsive-multipurpose-theme/2833226

Go here and scroll down  http://preview.themeforest.net/item/avada-responsive-multipurpose-theme/full_screen_preview/2833226?_ga=2.132099530.454643038.1591029981-1563905706.1564058375

They have lots of demo sites that can be imported with one click to get staterd quickly.

Thanks for those. The new website will be my own POD site for my Print Studio.
Do the POD pricing and product pages need to be designed from scratch or are their templates? Didn't see anything.

Bear in mind that any Wordpress plugins require the highest price subscription level.  That one stopped me cold.
But then, my site is just a vanity site.  No commerce.

If you are starting from scratch, it may be worth considering using PhotoDeck and a Wordpress site.  The image management and sales process is rock solid on Photodeck.  Have a base design on Photodeck and style the Wordpress site to match.

Square space is a good option. A lot simpler than Wordpress. Great if you just need a brochure website so to speak. I.e  you wont be adding new content all that often.

Wordpress is gives you more flexibility to create something custom.

Here is my Wordpress photography portfolio:

I used to work in web design before switching to photography. Feel free to reach out with any questions. Happy to help where I can.

Wordpress has one big advantage of other providers - you always own your content and can move it anywhere you want. Unlike subscription based websites like Squarespace, Wix or similar.

And you can keep it very simple - posts and pages, contact form.. Then you link the galleries to other providers where you host photos. Like SmugMug or others.
