A lover of those wide camera bodies, it's a delight to see how amazingly good film actually is in the right hands.

Who ever needed digital fakery? I'm reminded of a line in a John Swannell interview where he says that many of today's top people wouldn't even be able to start, were they given the routine challenges of film photography as it used to be.

I've got two of his books - Highlight and Scotland: The wild places, both chockfull of wonderful images of Scotland. If you like mountain landscapes and panoramas, no one does it better than Colin Prior.

I have a Colin Baxter book on France (France) that my wife bought me many years ago when she was over in Scotland seeing her Mum. Quite different technical take to Prior's style, but still an interesting set of pictures. I think Baxter used Leicas - might as well have been using anything else that was good enough. Definitely a case of subject and not camera. But I am not impartial: I love the France experience.
