Good shooting, Rajan, but as a Coloradan I have to tell you that in Colorado we'd call that "mountain" a "hump."

Russ - Don't forget that I'm an honorary Coloradan, having gone to the University in Boulder for 3 years. Love the state. The magic of Iceland doesn't derive from the bigness of mountains or other physical features. In relative terms the mountains here are rather small. It is the rawness of Nature that marks Iceland out. A diverse range of geology stares you in the face at every turn. The mountains & landscape are tree-less and mostly wild, often provoking this feeling of an alien world. Throw in dramatic clouds, dynamic weather conditions (Colorado would be considered calm & predictable by comparison), and the sublime sub-Arctic light. Moments of frisson are a fact of life in the Icelandic outdoors.
