You have some actual history with this fellow?
You don't know why he's selling it for the price he is; but you could ask.
Again, I have no dog in this fight but the guy has the right to sell it for whatever he wishes and people have the right to vet him and the product without someone with no direct knowledge of the seller (and posting inaccuracies at least about his time spent here) warning others.

Thank you Andrew. Perhaps my listing was too brief. But I have been a member for many years and used this forum to buy and sell many times. I guess my honest reply is to ask if my price is “insanely” too high or too low. It has not been easy to determine a fair price for these scanners as not many have come to market recently. This one is working fine and I have the original shipping box. Any credible input on price would be appreciated and perhaps I would need to amend the “best offer” to a firm price.

The going price for an 848 is between $6500-$7500, but of course only if there is a buyer.

After some serious research I am putting this listing back up at the price of $5500.
Imacon 848 with 6200 scans on the clock.
4 film holders. 4x5, 6x6, 35mm and 35mm strip.
I would prefer as sale and shipping inside the US. Payment via PayPal or Square, or bank wire. Shipping paid by buyer. Local pick up preferred in the Boston area.
