Title: Whispers in the Forest
Post by: maddogmurph on April 12, 2020, 12:56:57 pm
I can imagine the stories these trees might share, if they could talk to us. I am so thankful today that not all people were purely profit driven in our past and had the insight to understand how important it is to preserve at least a small part of the past for the future. These trees are worth a fortune, but also priceless. They cannot be replaced. It's getting to be that time of year again, where the Rhododendrons will bloom. This flower was one of my grandfathers favorites I was told, and he was buried underneath one. He has partially been an inspiration for my journey in life, and even though I'm sure he was a stubborn, heavy handed, gruff old man, he meant well, and was of a dying breed of man that could build with his hands, and develop complex prints in his dark room utilizing chemicals, enlargers, and a science that is now mostly lost to our generation. I think photo shop would feel like cheating to him perhaps, and he might have hung his hat up long ago, focusing on carpentery in his later days. A vocation that cannot be replaced by computers.

Very nice!

The closest that I will get to rhododendrons these days are in my backyard where I have several. Alas no such magnificent trees.

That's a really good idea. I should get some in my yard too...! They are really interesting in Nepal actually. It's kind of amazing that the plant has made it's way across the planet.
