I love it. The splashes of colour in the background, while understated, emphasise the black tree.

Yes I agree with everything said above.
..and with the possibility that you all might want to instantly march me out at dawn to face the 'croppers' firing squad, but I do also wonder if it could be even better without the brighter part of the base section, as shown below?
OK, don't go all nuclear on me, it is only a humble suggestion on my part and as I said above, I really like the shot 'as is', but I wonder if it gets even better and more graphic with this small but possibly significant croppette?

I shot it all sort of ways vertical, horizontal, frost, no frost etc.
Attached one of the images. The frost grounds the tree. When I printed I made sure the frost was not to bright to draw your eye to it.
