Title: Software for Imacon 343 film scanner
Post by: sanvandur on February 10, 2020, 02:01:29 pm
Not sure if this is the appopriate section for this post, but here it is...
I have an Imacon 343 scanner, which hasn't been used in a while. Now that I upgraded my Mac to Catalina, the FlexColor scanning software no longer loads. Does anyone know of any workarounds for this, or alternative software that will work on this particular scanner? Thanks

It’s probably not 64 bit or just broke under the new OS. I’m afraid there’s little you can do but go back to an older OS or boot into one to use that software.

I was in a similar position a few years ago with a SCSI connected Flextight. Problem solved by loading an old Mac G5 with OS Tiger, fItting a SCSI card and using it just for scanning. It’s frozen in time so that I never lose the ability the ability to scan and it works perfectly - albeit not frequently.
Bizarrely I have a backup G5 which is identical to the above just sitting next to it. If anyone (in the UK) happens to be looking for one, send me a PM. I don’t think I’m ever going to need it.
