Title: Fujifilm X-T200
Post by: armand on January 23, 2020, 10:29:08 am
Interesting new release, seems to be a very good camera if you want to test the Fuji waters (or if you don’t like x-trans). It gives me hope the new Fuji X-T4 will be quite exciting.

Now I don’t know what were they thinking with the joystick placement, not sure if I prefer it to have it there or not at all (a la Nikon D780). Maybe you can move the focus on the touchscreen while looking through the viewfinder.
Image quality, both video and stills, should be competitive along with a good focus performance and I don’t see other obvious flaws right now. There are many good choices in this crowded segment now.

I'm also hoping for a stellar X-T4.  I'm ready to upgrade from my X-T2.

The X-T200 is a serious upgrade over its predecessor and seems to be a beginner or VLOGGER camera.  I'm sure its very capable and may appeal to those who dislike X-Trans as well.

Chris and Jordon from DPReview have a good initial take on the X-T200   https://youtu.be/aqOkBeIfBzA

Same here, I almost pulled the trigger on the X-T3 but was taken back by the 16-80 F4 (for which I had higher hopes). That, and the fact that I have a Z7 to play with.
I'll have to separate their usage more though, so far I think travel mostly in cities is a great candidate for a Fuji system with 3-4 primes and a zoom or two.
Either way, the rumored IBIS should breath new life into the primes for low light scenes; and for the 90 F2 as most posed subjects can stay still enough at 1/60 or so.

IBIS would be nice if it doesn't make the camera unwieldily.  I'm actually not sure how much it would mean to me.  I've fared well without it for 40 years.   ;D. Perhaps I'd use it with my 16-55 f/2.8 mostly although I've been thinking about getting the Xf 23 f/2 for street work.

I shoot a lot of things.  Horse racing, high school football, cycling events, botanicals and a lot of landscape.  I have a good collection of Fuji lenses.  My Canon SLRs and DSLRs are on shelves in my in-house "museum" of cameras.   ;D

X-T4
Did I read that a new battery design is rumored? Would be nice to have smaller more power, but would mean could not use my X-T2 batteries.
IBIS would be nice too, if it doesn't push it to X-H size. I really like the X-H handling, but figured I may as well just use my Cn 7d. I'd have to get it back from my brother.. but you know what I mean.
Touch screen would be nice. The joy-stick works well, but is tedious sometimes getting the focus box set.

Sigh: I fared well without image stabilization for 40 years, too: namely between 9 and 49.  However, I became rather shakier during the next 20+.

In this format, I doubt that extra bulk is a worry; some IBIS cameras are even arguably too small for good ergonomics.

Also, I remember getting by without IS; it involved hauling around a tripod or monopod on outings that no longer need that, and when the tripod was not usable, it sometimes meant ISO 3200 or 6400 where I can now use 200.
