Title: Hasselblad film back with Arca Swiss 6x9
Post by: KDINDC on December 13, 2019, 08:49:04 pm
I'm new to this setup and having problems advancing the film. How does the film back know that an exposure has been taken so that you can turn the crank for the next exposure?

Mate, I am not sure whether you are talking about a V series or H series film back but I think that the answer is the same. It doesn't. You need to use a film back made for a view camera.
Something like this

What back are you using?  You may need the older "C" backs and not the "A" backs for this reason

Ok. I misunderstood the question. Download the manual for the 501C.
It indicates that the film crank is locked at frame one only. After that you can turn it. So presumably you could take one shot on a 500 series and then remove the back and use on the view camera. Clumsy but might work.
