Thanks for all the comments. This photo was as so many others shot with my Canon 100-400 lens and from a vantage point outside of Pienza where there is an overlook over the valley below. I love this place since I can shoot so many distinct compositions from one place with the long lens. In Tuscany I shoot way more with the long lenses like the 70-200 or 100-400 than wide angle. I almost never use my 16-35 lens in Tuscany. I know many says it is so beautiful in Tuscany, but there is so much that needs to be deselected. Others may disagree

Fantastic shot and in November, colors are richer.
Bravo, Hans!

Great shot Hans, but I seem to be wanting more to be happening in the lower half of the shot. The top half really is excellent and full of interesting stuff to look at and which makes my eye want to wander around within it, but the bottom half seems to lack that same oomph somehow if you know what I mean.

Great work though

Dave

Thanks for the comments and Dave, yes, I would sometimes crop a bit tighter, but in this image I wanted to include the amount of the gladiators road to lead up to the house the and fog. I was debating with myself if I should crop a bit tighter in this image and decided not to. Thanks for the comment.

I'm glad you didn't crop any tighter on this one. It is beautiful as is.

Thanks Eric,

I liked very much the long road and the small undulations in the fields with the sun just caressing the land in that part of the image. Attached are a couple of alternative compositions simply cropped from the first image. I think they can all work, but I chose the first one that I showed. I have shot this scene many times and depending on the light, the time of year and the weather I have done different compositions.

One can't go to wrong from that vista point! The problem is finding a place to pull the car over :-)

Edit/Transform/Warp across the bottom third.  HA!  Just kidding.  Lovely image, Hans.
