Title: 4 minutes of Vestrahorn Sunrise
Post by: Vieri Bottazzini on November 22, 2019, 04:09:38 pm
After almost 8 months from my last visit, I am almost ready to go back to Iceland for about two weeks of photography there! Iceland is always beautiful, but in winter is truly amazing and I am very excited to be there again. Here's a shot from my last visit, taken at the amazing Vestrahorn mountain:

236 seconds (almost 4 minutes) of exposure with my Hasselblad X1D, Hasselblad XCD 21mm and Formatt-HItech Firecrest Ultra filters.

Thank you for viewing, best regards

Vieri

Classic location. I'd never have known it was a 4m shot if you hadn't disclosed. The blues could be brought down just a touch.

Very nice shot and the soft light is fantastic. Frozen ground looks like waves.
Well done!

Nice! I’m not natively drawn to ultrawide composition but this works very well.

As a side note it’s impressive you were able to get a steady exposure for that long in Iceland, when I was there it was almost always windy and a struggle to get longer than few seconds exposures.

Lovely colours. It's awfully monochromatic when it's cloudy.

Yes, it was a 4 minute shot - the clouds very pretty slow that day :)

Thank you very much indeed Francois, glad you enjoyed the light and the composition here :)

Thank you very much Armand, glad you enjoyed it! :) Well, wind is sometimes a problem in Iceland - I am there now, and today we drove from Reykjavik to Skogar in 30 m/s winds... a fun drive!

Great shot.

Thank you very much Paulo! :)

Thank you very much Jeremy! :) You are definitely right about the colour palette under the clouds, but I kinda love the stark and austere beauty of Vestrahorn under a cloudy sky as well!

Best regards,

Vieri
