Title: suddenly cant tether, gfx to capture one
Post by: rastas on November 21, 2019, 11:17:52 am
Been shooting tethered for a couple months now with gfx100, capture one and my macbook pro (via usbc to usb cable). Camera always connects, everytime.

Couple days ago got the new 16 inch macbook pro, all usbc ports. using a usbc to usbc cable, have a few different types, but tethering has been challenging. It disconnects on its own frequently, sometimes it wont see the camera... its been frustratiing. restarting software, unplugging and plugging back in resolves things sometimes for a few mintues.

any clues?

No experience with GFX but my experience with tethering after spending a lot of money on cables is that Tether Tools solves the problem.
That is assuming of course that you have the latest versions of firmware and software.
Technically the MBP has Thunderbolt 3 ports which use USB-C connector and are compatible with USB 3 via an adaptor, but that shouldn't make a difference AFAIK.
The other thing to consider is that the new Mac may have Catalina which the software may not be fully compatible on.
