Sigma 500mm f/4 DG OS HSM Sports Lens or the Nikon 5.6 PF?
Nikon rumors had a comparison of the sigma to the exotic Nikon f4 500mm and found them equivalent.

Of course having the extra stop over the Nikkor pf is a bonus but it costs 6000.
And weighs more than 7lbs.
Has anyone experienced the sigma?
I wish I could mount the new canon rf 70-200 on my z

The difference is the extra 4 pounds of weight of the 500mm f/4 lens. With the 500mm PF I shoot hand held except when using a 1.4x teleconverter and even then all I need is a monopod to keep the lens steady.
For me carrying the 500mm PF and the 80-400mm zoom is roughly the same load as a 500mm f/4 and I do not need to carry a tripod with a gimbal head which saves me 8 lbs of weight and also allows me to shoot faster and at different heights without delay.

Don't worry- there is a Nikkor s around the corner and i am sure it will not disappoint. ( because it HAS to be good)

The F mount version is one of the best zoom lenses ever designed and still bests the Canon eos and Sony E mount versions released later.
The Canon R being a collapsible design is bound to be compromised in some ways while Nikon has taken the route of a uncompromised form factor which makes IMHO more sense for such a pro workhorse lens. The S lens can only be better than the F one...
