I have recently purchased the new Canon EOS 90D DSLR. I have previously been shooting with the Canon EOS 50D so I am familiar with Canon’s approach. However this new camera has Bluetooth/WiFi features that I don’t understand. The Canon documentation that I have found on the subject is poor. Can anyone point me to a source of information that will help me get educated?

I wasn't even aware that the Canon 90D existed, until I came across a review of the camera at Dpreview just yesterday.
I wish Nikon would produce a 32 mp APS-C format, say, an upgrade from the D7200 with 4K video included.

ps. Maybe I should upgrade from my Canon 50D. I've still got lots of Canon lenses, even though I switched to Nikon years ago. ;)

Mary K's post shows a good example of how to set it up. I will address some of the ways I use it.
I have both an 80D and a 6D with WiFi connection, and have used it to connect to my Galaxy phone. This allows the phone to be used as a wireless remote for the camera, including showing a live view display on the phone.
It has been most useful for macro work, like shooting frog portraits close to the ground with the 6D (my 80D and your 90D make this a bit easier with the articulating screen).
Shooting at night it has been really useful to review focus, composition and exposure without attracting bugs to the camera display or risking moving the camera while reviewing.
Another use is for transferring pictures from the camera. There is an option to transfer the whole full size file, or a reduced size version.
I use this on site to share pictures with people quickly via text or email or to post to facebook.
I also use it to post or email pictures while on vacation or at our cottage where my phone is my only internet access.
It is nice to have a quick way to share some shots with people on my phone which is easier to handle and look at then the back of the camera. When my girlfriend or one of the neighbors ask "What did you see this morning?", I can hand them the phone to easily show some examples.
Another use is to back up important once in a lifetime type shots for security, to KNOW that I have certain shots backed up and saved in more than one place before I even leave a shooting site.
It can be a pretty useful feature, even if it seems fiddly to set up and use at first.

Wow. I wasn't actually hoping that I will find this information, but I found it. Thank you for creating this thread, OP! I asked my cousin about it. He's a smart guy. He even passed Cisco Certification Exams (https://cciedump.spoto.net) not so long ago. But even he wasn't able to help me. I guess that's because it required proper knowledge about these cameras. When I told him that I've bought a Canon EOS 90D DSLR, my cousin, just like Ray from this thread, was surprised that this stuff actually exists.

I do not really know what do these features mean in a camera, or why do you actually need them. I mean ok, maybe i understand the bluetooth, but the wifi, do not really see its purpose. In case you tell me why do you need them then i could easily train you in how to use these features properly. I don't really know about all these things in the cameras as i do not really like to take photos by myself, and i am far from being an expert in cameras. However i am a Cisco Certified Network Professional, so i know pretty many things about the wifi. Especially learned a lot about it during the courses at spotoclub.com (https://www.spotoclub.com/). They teach you any kind of small features that you didn't even think about.

If you need to transfer/monitor photos or video you need WiFi because it has a much higher bandwidth. Bluetooth is only really suitable for control or audio data transfer.
