Any opinions on XRite's new offerings, the I1Display Studio and I1 Display Pro Plus? Apparently they are bracketing their existing offering, the i1Display Pro. Seems to me to be an excess of colorimeters.

I still have my NEC branded colorimeter that I got some years ago when I bought my first NEC Spectraview monitor. don't think I will be in the market for another since this one is still working well.

No need, agreed. Stick with what you have.

Bracketing is exactly right. The i1Display Studio is more for the creatives - a way to entice the graphic artists into the color management world with a product that is less expensive and does not have all the software options that the Pro version has. The Display Pro Plus is more for filmmakers and others who have need to calibrate very bright monitors.

Is the new Pro the same as the old Pro? Much of the difference between the SKUs seems to be in the software (support).

And the i1Studio Display looks much like the old ColorMunki Display that I used to have.

After searching I found a web page that provides entry into each of the three colorimeter description pages - the specifications and features sections enable one to (sort of) compare the devices. Not much quantitative info, other than the 2000 nits capability for the Pro Plus.

Not even sure if that's a hardware feature or just software. All they state is:
Obtain correct neutral detail levels and higher accuracy in dark colors with new black current subtraction technology, especially beneficial on OLED displays or any display that can achieve close to zero black point.
So stripping aside the marketing speak, it's not clear if the hardware among the three is any different. And short of dealing with OLED, I can't see why anyone would need the 'black current subtraction' technology.
