I just got to the MFA today to see the Exhibit "Viewpoints," 150 prints from the recently acquired Howard Greenberg collection of 20th century photographs. This has to be the most comprehensive exhibit of the best 20th century photography that I have seen anywhere, and seeing the real prints rather than reproductions is mind-blowing. I say this even though there isn't a single Ansel Adams in the show, and only one each (but what great examples) of Edward Weston and Minor White.
Russ would like this show a lot, as it illustrates the human connection beautifully.

It's only up for another five weeks, so go see it soon, if you are anywhere near Boston.

I'd love to see it, Eric, but obviously I won't. I wonder if they have a catalog that'll be published. Sounds fascinating.

The catalog won't be the same as seeing the actual prints, however. Most of these we have seen reproduced numerous times (the HCB, the FSA prints by Dorothea Lange, etc.) but in many cases the prints have a life that I have never seen in reproductions.

By the bye...my late father-in-law Ted Croner (https://www.apag.us/ted-croner/) has a print "Whiplash" in that extraordinary show...and it is well worth seeing if you are anywhere close to Boston during exhibition. They are publishing a catalog.
