Title: canon ipf5000 noise

just got this printer. is it that noisy. i am comparing it with my canon i9900 which is very quiet. the fan kicks in and stays on the whole time its printing. is this normal.

That is the vacuum which holds the paper flat while printing, so yes it is normal.
