Title: Simultaneity
Post by: Mark Nadler on May 28, 2019, 09:29:38 pm
I was attracted to the juxtaposition of the image's elements -- I can't
explain why.

Comments welcomed.

Nice composition. Too bad, she is not related to the young couple. Also, she seems to have flat feet.

The ambiguity invites the viewer to make up a relationship.

…Also, she seems to have flat feet.

Perfect to walk effortlessly on the sand, I guess!

Groom's Mother?

:-)!!!

In my case, one of the few decisions that I ever made of which my own mother approved - always.

Whew! Saved a mountain of minefields, which is an interesting thought to consider.

Another thing I think that matters is this: had there been a better view of the faces of the couple, it would have distracted fom the overall sense of threesome because those two faces would have overpowered the scene. As it is, there's a great shared equilibrium.

Nice.

Thanks to everyone for commenting.  I agree with Rob's comment about not fully seeing anyones face.

I will share my take on this image: the older woman looks away, the groom is looking straight forward, and the bride seems to me
to be peaking at the older woman.  I  imagine that she is wondering if in seeing the older woman she is seeing her future -- the one possible truth
that undermines her day.

She may be a bit young for that yet - but I wouldn't bet on it because women are, out of self-defence, years ahead of men - but it will hit her sooner or later, as it hits us all.
