Title: Hilton
Post by: Rob C on May 22, 2019, 08:04:14 am
This has nothing to do with photography, but is a question for the painters out there.

Do any of you have any idea who this particular Hilton might be? The only one I can find is Roger, who doesn't seem to fit the style, and whose signature, on the few Internet slots where I find it, is not similar.

The painting sits above my shoulder in one of the two places I have lunch.

Here are two out-of-iPad snaps made as I write:

Mea culpa - that was the guy I already found - not Roger, which makes me wonder who the hell is Roger, that he came to mind? He, Barry, is the guy who married another artist and stopped her working until late in life, when he eventually capitulated and encouraged her.

The amazing things you discover over lunch, nursing your single glass of red, sitting beneath a painting. (I feel a dose of Omar Khayyam coming on.)

Thanks for trying, Oscar, but the signature doesn't seem to fit - unless he changed it to suit different styles. The owner of the bar had no idea beyond that his brother had the painting for a long time.
